چکیده
Background: Assessing patients’ level of consciousness in intensive care units (ICUs) through Full Outline Un-Responsiveness (FOUR) scale versus the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) requires critical nurses’ (CCNs) knowledge and skills to detect deterioration consciousness. Objectives: To evaluate effect implementing training sessions on performance perception regarding FOUR compared GCS reliability each one. Research hypotheses: Nurses who attend will show a significant improvement GCS. Study design: A pretest posttest study design was used this study. Method: The conducted at seven ICUs Alexandria Main University Hospital including; Unit I, II, III, Medical, Respiratory, Neurosurgery, Emergency anesthesia ICUs. Subject: convenient sampling technique all CCNs (100) purposive sample adult critically ill patients equivalent number recruit participants from previously mentioned CCUs. Results: implemented were significantly effective increasing CCNs’ positive There overall higher inter-rater score than that Cohen’s kappa (0.92 0.81) 83% nurses agreed is preferred assess depth coma. Conclusion: Recommendation: Nursing administrators should provide continuous sessions. Manual for procedures advised be distributed including methods assessing (LOC).

متن کاملComparison of the Full Outline of UnResponsiveness and Glasgow Liege Scale/Glasgow Coma Scale in an intensive care unit population.
BACKGROUND The Full Outline of UnResponsiveness (FOUR) has been proposed as an alternative for the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS)/Glasgow Liège Scale (GLS) in the evaluation of consciousness in severely brain-damaged patients. We compared the FOUR and GLS/GCS in intensive care unit patients who were admitted in a comatose state. METHODS FOUR and GLS evaluations were performed in randomized order in...
